    Fostering cosiness for mental health

Cosiness is something that feels good, just picturing it in your mind, makes you feel safe. Fostering cosiness for mental health is so important during these cold and drab winter months. I recently watched a wonderful video on It’s a Charming Life, where Lyndsey shared her struggles with SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder is a form of depression that comes seasonally. This time of year there is less sunlight, and this very much affects the chemistry of the brain. This got me thinking of how we can all take a leaf out of Lyndsey’s book and foster cosiness into our everyday life. I guess it would fit into living a Hygge…

    When pacing goes wrong

I think we have all had times when pacing goes wrong and end up doing so much more than you meant. It is part of living with chronic illnesses that cause fatigue, and so is the guilt! So I thought it was time we talk about this. Monday was a good day, they are rare and usually I take my time and do little jobs that are usually too much. I was good, I paced and managed a little yoga, before going online and getting caught up with emails. I was being good, but my husband, who has epilepsy, was not. No Lee was over at our storage container, we…

5 ways to support your favourite content creators

I was talking to my aunt not too long back about my YouTube channel, she admitted she didn’t subscribe because she thought she had to pay. This inspired me to try and help people to understand. Here are 5 ways to support your favourite content creators. What is a content creator? A content creator is someone who makes videos, articles, blog posts, anything that we read or watch. They can be YouTubers, personal bloggers, journalists… all of these things and do it either for work or for a hobby, like I do. Many of us make content that we think up for ourselves based on our hobbies, interests and lives.…

Disabled community stop doing this in 2021

I think I can safely say you are not alone in doing these things, I am as guilty of it as you are. But disabled community stop doing this in 2021 please? Can we move forward with a collective agreement to try and not do these things? I think we are all guilty of feeling like a burden, of feeling guilt or worrying too much what other people think. It is not something we do alone, but these things are what we all do as a community. I hate apologising when I have done nothing wrong, or not using my walking stick because I feel embarrassed or whatever. So for…

    Goodbye 2020

I think a lot of us are happy to be saying goodbye to 2020 this week. It has been such a crazy year for the human race, but today I want to talk about how my life changed. So much happened for me personally this year so lets chat. I started out this year very happy and settled, we had been living in our home for nine years and loved it. The problem was my husband worked six days a week and then had three days off, he was working just to pay for the house. He was struggling with fatigue and we wanted to find a way to get…

    Everyday Sacred Self-care

It can be so hard to think of ways to practice everyday sacred self-care. We all know what self-care is, and that we should do it, but everyday? Today I wanted to speak more about how to bring the ritual into the mundane things we do daily. A few days ago I released a video on my You Tube talking about how it is important to do sacred self care at the end of the year. This time of the year it is all about cleansing and protecting. Even doing things such as ritual bathing to take care of ourselves and make sure we are ready for the coming year.…

    Getting into the Christmas spirit

Getting into the Christmas spirit is feeling a lot harder for most people this year. I am seeing so many people saying they are just not feeling it even with the relaxed rules during the pandemic here in the UK. I know for me, I feel a little like I am going through the motions, and it has felt like that for a little while. However, this year with a global pandemic, and with a little break in the rules, it is even harder. There is no going Christmas shopping, no Christmas markets and no having friends round for nibbles and drinks. This all means that though it is almost…

    A chronic illness photography study

Last week I was contacted by Ashley Oman on Instagram, they asked if I could help promote a chronic illness photography study. They are a university student working with two nursing students. Aiming to look into the lived experience of duel disasters and and a chronic health condition. This very much interested me, because as we are all living through Covid-19 pandemic, other disasters such as fire or hurricanes for example still happen. Discovering how these stressful situations affect us as individuals with chronic illness is so important. This study is very cool as it is a photography study and now most people have cameras on them all the time…
