An exhausting whirlwind
Wow this last week has been an exhausting whirlwind! Last Wednesday we drove 2 and a half hours each way to pick up a rescue dog from Pupcakes rescue. We were told he was aggressive at first and didn’t like to be touched until he knew you, we were prepared for it to take time and to be honest were mostly concerned with him feeling safe. We wanted to give him a chance and were excited to get him, however we had no idea how different he would be once we got him home. We were on edge the first day, and of course stress can make pain and fatigue…
Health Update
Wow it has been a hot minute since I last posted here and for that I am so sorry I have not been well enough to post lately so it’s time for a health update So, if you are a regular reader you will know I have been struggling with my stomach since October/November time. It started when I was given some antibiotics and they interacted with some of the tablets I was already on. Since then I have been in so much pain and it is getting no better. I was actually taken off the medication that it interacted with, they found I was on two different antidepressants.…
Reflecting with a goddess
So the other day I was doing a meditation by Sentia Yoga on Insight Timer called ‘Nine divine days day six the healer’. I have been enjoying this whole series but this one really resonated with me. In it she spoke about the Roman Goddess Feronia and while listening I just felt a lightbulb go off in my head. I have found it stayed with me and since then I have been reflecting with a goddess something I have not really done before. You see this is the Roman Goddess of health and abundance but also of freedom. She granted freedom to slaves and at first I struggled to get…

3 Real Benefits To Mindfulness
There is such a lot of back-and-forth around mindfulness these days that it is hard to know what’s what, or who believes what. If you are keen to get into mindfulness, you might feel that you are besieged by many different people saying many different things, and that can make it hard to even know what it is in the first place, let alone how to practice it well or get the most out of it. Generally, mindfulness refers to a specific kind of meditation practice with roots in Buddhist Vipassana which has the goal of paying careful and close attention to whatever happens to arise in each moment. So…
So summer has finally arrived
So, summer has finally arrived in England and for those of us with chronic illnesses who find it hard to regulate our body temperature it’s not great! Honestly, I cannot step outside to enjoy the sunshine because it is so bright and hot, but our houses are insulated so it’s really hot inside too! Currently I am sat on my sofa in the living room, but yesterday I spent the whole day in bed tired, in pain and with a really bad headache. Today is much the same except my EDS joints are very unstable and painful and I am sat in the living room which is the coolest room…
Mid-year goals
It is July and though the weather here in the UK is very up and down and not very summery, I do realise we are half way through the year. I read this post by Living with ME yesterday and I thought it was a wonderful idea. Yesterday was a big day because I did get an award nomination and started thinking about my mid-year goals. At the start of the year I did make this post stating my Resolutions and affirmations for 2019. Now we are half way through the year I think it is important to think about the things we want to achieve by the end of…
Get to know me tag
So today is day two of a headache, I am struggling a bit and because of the brain fog it caused me I have not had a chance to think of what I want to talk about. Usually I would think of something but a google search led me to the ‘Get to know me tag’ which was made for You Tube. Though I do have a you tube channel I thought it would be a good chance for readers to get to know me better. Hope you enjoy – Get to know me tag: 1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in a small town in Staffordshire…
Am I in a flare?
So if you follow me on Instagram you will know that I have had a busy couple of weeks! I went to a weekend convention to meet some of my favourite Once Upon a Time actors, and then the following weekend we went to London to see Billy Joel in concert. I thought I had rested enough and been careful but then this week I have been asking myself…Am I in a flare? While I was at the convention I woke one morning with a lot of pain in my lower back like I had pulled something or trapped something. I have been treating it with heat ever since however…
Blooming Mindfulness award
Oh my goodness I am so excited and thankful that Back Pain blog UK has nominated me for an award that was set up by Pamela Jensen from There is Always Hope. The Chronically Hopeful Award is, in her words, “to recognise the incredible people who blog about chronic illness, mental health and disability.” This meant so much to me because both of these blogs are favourites of mine who I have been subscribed to for years. Both of these incredible people inspire me to keep writing and to strive to bring some light into this world. There are many blogs out there, but I think all three of us can…
